Feature Friday: Vintage Coral and Gold Baby Shower
A Coral and Gold Baby Shower. Mother's Day is right around the corner and I can't help but get misty when I remember the day I became a mother for the first time. What a crazy experience to grow a baby! Being pregnant is HARD {not as hard as having a newborn, but shhhh don't tell} so it's a treat to sit back and let your loved ones shower you and baby-to-be with love.
I'm honored to share a beautiful baby shower for Jenna Haight from South Jordan, UT hosted by Sister-in-Law, Emily Knowles and her Mom, Denise Knowles. Emily is here to tell us all about the beautiful day.

Coral and gold Nursery Theme:
Excited to be back and share one of my grown up parties! This baby shower was for my sister-in-law, Jenna Haight, to welcome her first child. A baby girl! Since we wanted the theme to compliment her nursery, we had to have a coral and gold baby shower! Using the gold helped create a more sophisticated vintage feel. This was an open house shower. We had fun activity stations, food, then of course, we socialized. It gave the party a nice flow and was a lot of fun because the guests seem to enjoy their time and stuck around for a bit.
Invitations:
The invitation was simple but classic. “Isn't she lovely” in gold on a coral ombre background. It kept the focus on our mom-to-be and her pregnancy “glow”.
Coral and Gold Baby Shower Decor:
Mantel decor using dot garland, fresh flowers, and framed art featuring printable quotes and graphics perfect for the nursery. I left the frames unfinished so Jenna could choose the colors she'd like to paint them for the nursery walls.
I'm not a huge fan of most of the cheesy baby shower games so I found some great ideas to use:
- A Twinkle Toes touch and feel board book as the sign in book. {I love this tradition of giving something that mom and baby will actually use.}
- “What will baby look like?”: A baby making station where I took wedding photos of Jenna and Scott (Dad-to-be) of the same size, and made copies for guests to clip and use features from each parent to create a picture of what they think the baby is going to look like. It was hilarious. {You could do this with baby pictures of mom and dad as well}
- How big will baby be?”: Each guest measures and cuts a piece of string to the length they think would wrap around the mom-to-be. The person who's string is the best fit wins a prize.
A baby shower activity that is actually fun and helpful…each guest creates one {or more} hair clips for the soon-to-arrive baby girl. A hair bow making station provided all the tools necessary to create cute hair pieces, with sample bows shown, and display them on the ribboned frames. The ribbon was attached to the back of the frame top and bottom to create a hair bow organizer for Jenna after the party.
What was the menu?
For the menu we had salad options: pasta, spinach, and garden, with different types of artisan breads, and spinach artichoke dip. Along with the momma-to-be's favorite foods like bacon wrapped smokies, fruit salad, and a veggie tray.
Coral and Gold Sweets:
I made the cake and cupcakes. Chocolate was requested by the momma-to-be and the ruffled frosting added to the vintage feel. I loved the coral rose topper that we cut from the grandma-to-be's garden. The gold sprinkles really added the finishing touch. The cake recipe from Two Peas and Their Pod is mouthwatering!
The sweet table consisted of coconut and powdered donuts, cupcakes, million dollar cookie bars, and salted caramel popcorn that is to die for! I loved the simple vintage look of the white tablecloth and lace overlay with the baby's breath in mason jars. The large glass beverage dispenser, where we served lemon water, is reminiscent of vintage cooking crocks.
Favorite moments:
My favorite part of the party was the food table. No one left hungry at this shower and it all coordinated. I also loved the decor and activities. The old wooden cradle for the gifts next to the hair bow station was a hit. I also really like that menu was personalized to Jenna and we were able to serve things she craved during her pregnancy.
What's a shower without the mom-to-be? Here are some words from Jenna: “I loved my shower! I honestly don’t know that I could pick a favorite thing and nothing went wrong… I loved all of the people, the decorations, the food and the gifts! I really liked how Emily displayed all of the gifts in the antique wood bassinet.”
Coral & Gold Baby Shower Source List
I had some happy finds at home and at my mom's house. I love it when I go around my own house and collect things that come together beautifully. It's also nice that I can borrow cool stuff from my Mom, like the antique wooden cradle.
One product that saved me was my Cricut Explore Air electronic cutting machine. I used it to cut the circles for the dot garland. Those would have taken FOREVER by hand and been all wonky!
And a big thank you to the Grandma-to-be, our resident photographer, Denise Knowles.
IKEA
- I did find cheap swiss dot lace, in IKEA's bulk material section, that I used with burlap to make a tie garland on the crib and as the table overlays.
- I also found great IKEA vases to use for the sweets bar.
Hobby Lobby
- I purchased a roll of burlap with a 50% off coupon, they typically offer a coupon every other week. {If you aren't near Hobby Lobby there's a similar product from Amazon}
- I also purchased a lot of the bow making supplies; ribbon, flower petals, buttons, gems, etc.
Pick Your Plum
I purchased the coral polkadot cupcake liners and wooden frames at their warehouse sale in Layton, UT. {Score!}
Costco
If you haven't tried the Cosmos salted caramel popcorn yet, you must add it to your shopping list. {Did she already mention it's to die for? Costco has the best price but If you aren't close to a Costco you can order a 2 pack from Amazon}
Feature Summary
I LOVE it when I can make something for a party that has a second life when the event is over. Creating baby shower decor that can do double duty in the nursery is a great way to add to the special day and a wonderful gift for mom-to-be. I loved the activities. I, like Emily, am not a big fan of cheesy shower games, these sound like fun and the hair bow station is actually helpful!
I think my favorite part of this coral and gold baby shower was working in so many of the momma-to-be's favorite things. Great job ladies and congratulations Jenna! Dressing up baby girls is so much fun!
