A Baby is Brewing October Baby Shower Ideas
A Baby is Brewing is the perfect theme for an October Baby Shower! Think cauldrons, witches, black cats, and bats for decor! I'll break down this simple table with a few tricks and treats of my own!
13 Days of Halloween Inspiration & HIWU
But first, I must introduce you to the October Head In With Us. Not only have we been celebrating the 13 Days of Halloween, but today for HIWU, a special group of party stylists present their ideas on a common theme. Check out my Instagram page for fabulous Halloween inspiration from all SIXTEEN of us. And don't forget to check out the full articles of the other bloggers ideas at the end of this post!
Then Jordan and I will be back to our regularly scheduled FINAL DAY of our 13 Days of Halloween. 🙀 I can't believe we're almost done!!
October Baby Shower Decor
For an October baby you can either avoid Halloween or EMBRACE IT! If you're ready to GO FOR IT start looking through your Halloween decor for all things witchy. Look for:
- Cauldrons
- Witch Hats
- Bats
- Black Cats
- Witch Broom
- Spiders & webs
- Creepy Cloth
- Black leaf garland
- Anything fun and slightly spooky!
Halloween Tree Decor
How fun is a Little Halloween tree as decor for your October Baby shower!? I've wanted one forever and it was so nice to have an excuse to finally create one! See how easy it is to put together a Halloween tree of your own!
Bubble Bubble Toil and Trouble
When setting up your party table don't be afraid to add some decor under the table too! This cauldron with a purple tissue paper “potion” with tissue paper “fire” makes for a fun detail. Flank it with a couple of Dollar Tree witch hats and you've got a little Hocus Pocus going on!
The spider web table covering sets the theme that continues with the pennant banner, felt spider web runner, and cool paper spiders.
A Baby is Brewing Food Table
Start your food table off with another cauldron. This one was supposed to brewing with dry ice but it was impossible to find! So if you end up with a dry ice shortage, not to fear, just fill it up with balloon bubbles instead!
Offer up a “spooky” taco salad bar with lettuce, cheese and chili in individual bowls. Then offer up some chip and dip options on the serving table.
COVID FRIENDLY: Make sure to have tongs available to eliminate fingers in the food, and hand sanitizer for the tongs between uses.
You don't need a ton of food at a baby shower if you have it between meal times. Our salad worked great but a few more appetizers options include:
To serve up the chips this broomstick snack bowl stand is the PERFECT piece. I've wanted this for ages and finally splurged this year!
To keep with the color scheme use:
- Witch Hats {Bugles}
- Purple Bat Chips {Purple corn tortillas – whic
- h as a bonus are also Gluten free}
- Broom Sticks {Pretzels}
Serve them with a couple of dips like nacho cheese and mild salsa.
A Baby is Brewing Shower Treats
The safest way to serve your sweets is individually. So instead of the standard baby shower cake, think small, and varied. And the best way to display them is on this Broomstick 3-Tiered Server.
COVID FRIENDLY: Individual servings of food items like dessert shooters, cupcakes, or cake pops are a better choice than a large cake.
Mini ceramic cauldrons* work perfectly for cupcakes. You can actually bake in these so you could offer up sweet or savory options. BUT they are just the right size for a bakery cupcake to slide right in! Then add your own toppers like these cute witch legs from FestiveFetti.
*These cauldrons are REALLY hard to find so I'm sorry if they are sold out in your area. Mark your calendar to shop for them the end of August or early September next year. {I'm NOT kidding!}
Witch Broom Chocolates
These Godiva Chocolate Domes come packaged SO pretty that when my hubs gave me a package on my birthday I KNEW I'd have to used them again for a party. Stick a cut down bamboo skewer in the top and they make the EASIEST witch broom treats ever!!
Witch Hat Cookies
These witch hat cookies are SO good and fun to make. They are even a little healthier than the standard version by using a chocolate covered strawberry! They make for a fun and tasty witchy treat.
A Baby is Brewing Brew
You MUST have a fun drink or two for a Baby is Brewing Baby Shower! These are my favorite non-alcoholic brews for the mommy-to-be:
- Black Cat Cherry Sparkler Mocktail is simple but festive {shown above}
- Poisoned Apple Witch's Brew with Blood Orange Syrup the syringe of syrup puts it over the edge!
- Non-alcoholic Fruity Sangria is the perfect spooky color!
A Baby is Brewing Balloons
The final piece to this fun October baby shower decor is the Baby is Brewing balloon letter banner to announce to everyone the happy occasion. My favorite are NorthStar Balloons. I have less problems with theirs than other brands. But please note – these 16″ letter balloons will NOT float.
Pro Tip: If you want the balloons in a straight line it's easiest to attach each balloon individually to the wall or backdrop instead of trying to string them. If you don't mind the droop, then string away! A hanging banner is a time save if you have the space for them to sag.
I hope you try this A Baby is Brewing Baby Shower theme and if you do I want to hear about it in the comments. And if you share, I want to see it too! Please tag us @partieswithacause on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. We love celebrating all your hard work!
