Father's Day Brunch Celebration Ideas for Kids – Hop on Pop with Dr. Seuss
A Father's Day brunch is the perfect way to celebrate! And a Dr. Seuss inspired “HOP on POP” theme is ideal for a family with children! Kids will love the silly theme, and dad will love the poppers served!
Then later on in the summer you can give it a slight twist and turn it into a Back to School party too!

Father's Day Brunch Theme
Hop on Pop is a great beginner book and one of the first that each of my children read on their own. The fun rhyming and lyrical verse makes it a great tale for young readers. Dr. Seuss books have long held a special place in our hearts so it made sense to combine our love of books with our love of DAD!
HOP ON POP Father's Day Decor
When choosing your color scheme decide if you want to stick to the green and orange of the book cover, or bring in the red and white striped hat from the Cat in the Hat. I combined both red and green ARE complementary colors after all!
Overlapping the red paper fans and gold paper fans to create a backdrop is a favorite of mine. The fans are reusable so save them after your Father's Day brunch and use them again and again in different combinations for future events. You can see how well the metallic gold matches the orange on the book cover and the red highlights the green on the Hop on Pop banner I designed.
The best part? This cute banner is available in my VIP Printables Library too! Just click below:
If you don't have a copy of Hop on Pop, you can check one out from your local library. Then find a small riser, to display it. A stack of Dr. Seuss books would work great as a riser too!

Air Fry for a Healthier Father's Day Brunch
For all these fun fried foods, try the air fryer for a lower fat way to prepare your brunch. Once hot and crispy, get them set out and ready to eat!
Depending on your guest count you may want a tray of each item, or if it's just for the immediate family, gather all your savory POP foods onto one tray. Display the stuffed mushrooms, popcorn chicken and jalapeno poppers around the center BBQ sauce anchor.
Feel free to add ranch dressing, or blue cheese dipping sauces as well.
Cat in the Hat Veggie Tray
For a healthy option on the Father's Day brunch menu, try creating a “Cat in the Hat” veggie tray. Using sweet baby tomatoes and cauliflower.
Directions:
- Wash veggies {tomato is a fruit…I know}
- Cut cauliflower into small florettes
- Start at the top and create your red cap with 2 rows of tomatoes – allow the tomatoes to “spill” over the top edge
- Line underneath with a thick row of cauliflower, stacking florettes on top of each other to fill in gaps
- Repeat with alternating single tomato rows and cauliflower rows, bringing the center of the “hat” in and then flaring back out at the bottom.
- Create the white hat brim by cutting slices of cauliflower for the bottom.
- Congrats! Your hat is done.
Father's Day Brunch Veggie Tray
We'll be taking some liberties next with the Cat in the Hat's popcorn “face”. Place a small dipping bowl of ranch dressing in the center and fill in the area with popcorn.
And finally to finish it off, add some cute provolone letters to spell “Hop on Pop” – or whatever phrase you wish! I LOVE these letter cutters. I've used them to cut numbers from watermelon on this New Years Eve clock, and words from Air Heads for an Art Party cake. They are so versatile. I highly recommend them for your party arsenal!
Place your cheesy letters for this cheesy theme on your Cat in the Hat veggie tray and you're all set to celebrate dad this Father's Day Brunch!
