Healthy Fruit Pizza Dessert Clock

New Year's countdown with a fruit pizza dessert clock with Salt Lake City Healthy Hostess

A fruit pizza desert clock is the perfect way to get a healthy treat and start your resolutions off to a great start!

Gluten Free Fruit Pizza Dessert Crust

Ingredients for gluten free fruit pizza

If you require a gluten free option for yourself or visiting guests this Sun Flour Mills Sugar Cookie mix is the perfect place to start.

Otherwise just use your favorite sugar cookie dough recipe and follow along:

Roll Out Sugar Cookie Dough

Once your dough is prepared, spray two pieces of saran or wax paper and roll into a nice circle approximately 1/8″ thick.

Trim Cookie Dough

Once the dough is nice and thin between the plastic, use your pizza pan to create a circle template.

Peel back the top layer of plastic and trim off the excess dough making a nice round circle.

Bake Fruit Pizza Dessert Crust

The crust puffs up a bit while baking and I pressed the center down with a glass measuring cup to create a bit of a “crust” line.

Then spread our “frosting” in an even layer onto a cooled crust. You can get the recipe for this healthier frosting alternative below.

Time for Fruit Pizza Art!

The best part of fruit art is choosing the fruit combos and colors. Berries aren't exactly in season during winter but they are a must have in my opinion for any dessert!

The pomegranate and red pears are readily available this time of year.

Create Your Quarter Hours

For a clock outline start with your quarter hours and center design.

Watermelon Fruit Clock Numbers

Melon is the perfect medium for cutting shapes and this Fondant Alphabet Cutting Set makes it easy.

Pomegranate And Blueberry Minutes

Don't worry about being exactly right on with your spacing. I could only fit 3 pomegranates between each number but no seemed to complain! Just do your best at maintaining a nice circle.

Final Fruit Details

Fill in any remaining space with additional fruit like blackberries and green grapes cut in half.

Chocolate Clock Hands

Melt chocolate in a piping bag (or ziploc bag) and create your hands. Because the chocolate will go on a little bumpy you can choose to add a layer of wax paper to the top and flatten both sides smooth.

Place in a fridge or freezer to set until firm.

Carefully peel back the wax paper and place the hands in the center of the clock pointing up to 12 o'clock.

You should actually switch the hands around so the small hand it pointing at the 12 and the big hand is just about to meet it. I got a little excited and placed mine backwards!

They are so good! My favorite is a strawberry, blueberry, banana combination but it’s so fun to experiment with different fruits.

I don’t know why we don’t make more dessert or veggie pizzas in general. Need to add this to an upcoming celebration!

I agree. I just made one for the Superbowl party and it was so good. I think we definitely need more of them in our lives.

Thank you! It was so fun to do for New Years but it would also be really fun for an Alice in Wonderland party or anytime really. The clock was a hit. Kids all fought over the numbers. 🙂 I bet your husband would be much easier to serve!
