The biggest thing you want to remember are to keep with the theme. Any fun snack foods that are red, pink, or heart shaped are fair game. This is a carb heavy snack mix but is low in added sugar except for the fun candy additions.

  • Freeze Dried Strawberries
  • Dried Cranberries
  • Peanut Butter Pretzels
  • Pink Princess Goldfish Crackers – with natural vegetable dyes

  • Kix cereal {#3 for low sugar cereal}
  • White Cheddar Popcorn like Smartfood or Pirate's Booty
  • Graham Cracker Hearts
  • Nuts like Almonds, Cashews, or Pecans
  • Dried Raisin medley, red and white grape raisins and dried cranberries

Serve Your Valentine's Day Trail Mix

Jar of Valentine's Day trail mix

Mix up a big batch and store it in a an airtight container. I love this jar from IKEA but there are many, many, sealed jars that would work wonderfully. I don't recommend any storage container with a glass lid if you'll be letting children serve themselves. 😉

But what's so wonderful about this mix is that you CAN let the kids have free range. I just set the ground rule that there was no “mining” out the good stuff. The rules holds for kids and grown ups!

Keep little bowls {these finger bowls are from Dollar Tree} or cute Valentine's Day themed treat cups handy for serving or you will end up with spilled cereal on the floor.

You could even turn this Valentine's Day trail mix into an activity by having the kids create a scene with the fish and other snack pieces.

Or Gift Your Valentine's Day Trail Mix

Valentine's Day trail mix gift idea

Because everyone loves this Valentine's trail mix so much, whip up a batch and give it as a gift to friends and neighbors to spread the love this season. I included a cute scoop, then tied them both with festive ribbon.

It would make a really nice teacher gift as well if they'll allow you to take a homemade mix to school.

Enjoy Your Trail Mix!
