Colorful Over the Rainbow Party Ideas
When you're looking for Over the Rainbow Party Ideas there are SO MANY options out there. My daughter's 8th birthday was a “Party Like Picasso” Art Party with the full spectrum. {which is a fancy way to say rainbow} As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, children are baptized at age 8, which made this a VERY special birthday. So it seemed appropriate to continue the colors for her “I like to Look for Rainbows” baptism brunch.
Whether you are celebrating a Baptism, Rainbow Party, or Unicorn theme, these Over the Rainbow Party details might give you a few ideas for your next colorful event.
Did you ever notice that the words Baptism and Birthday are pretty close? I kept the birthday banner and just added letters OVER the top of the existing pennants with an exclamation point at the end. I prefer to think of it as SUPER efficient. ?So hang on to those birthday decorations and reuse them if you can!

Rainbow Party Supplies
The whole party design started with this amazing rainbow plate! Coupled with the cloud plate, solid cups, and polka dot straws. Such an easy and fun color palette.
Rainbow Party Tablescape
The watercolor table runner is created from taping printed sheets of 11×17 paper together! It's that simple. The design is part of our Rainbow Party Digital Paper Collection and the perfect accessory.
Keep the centerpiece simple by color blocking {fancy name for using the same color} flowers to several small vases in a rainbow down the runner.
Rainbow Place Setting
Then, when setting up each place, layer the decorative plate over a more functional plate for comfortable eating. We added a little strip of a children's song lyric to tie the theme together from baptism to brunch. These are also available in the shop in the Rainbow Party Package {or free to my VIPP's in our Halfpint Printable Library}
Over the Rainbow Backdrop
Your food table tends to be the center of any gathering, so creating a fun focal point with this streamer rainbow was perfect. Finish it off with a balloon cloud and golden treasure! {Let it play double duty for St. Patrick's Day}

Brunch or not, a waffle bar is always a hit! Here's our menu with a few healthier upgrades that up the nutrition, lower processed sugar, but NEVER sacrifice taste!

- Toppings:
- Butter
- Pure maple syrup
- All-fruit jam
- Nutella
- Adam's peanut butter
- Powdered sugar {Confectioner's Swerve}
- Lemon curd {Paleo options}
- Greek yogurt
- Whipped cream
- Sausage or Bacon

Brunch Waffle Cake
The waffle “cake” make a fun centerpiece for the table with a single candy rainbow topper as waffles were made to order for guests in the kitchen.
Rainbow Waffle Toppings
but don't forget the toppings! Just make sure you've got a label so everyone knows what they're getting into. These Art Party, Rainbow Party Food labels are available in the shop. The toppings can get really sweet so follow our suggestions above for ways to lower your sugar intake without sacrificing taste.
Just as a side note – the most popular ones were jam, strawberry yogurt, and Nutella. We had to refill those a few times. I created the strawberry yogurt by mixing all fruit jam into plain greek yogurt. A super simple way to increase protein and reduce processed sugar.
Over the {fruit} Rainbow
Fruit is the MOST fun food to use at a party because of all the color variations. Choose your favorites from each category and go to town! Check out the list of foods for every color.
Rainbow Sprinkle Cookies
Okay, okay we did have a little sugar! My cousin made us these darling number 8 sugar cookies. Half rainbow sprinkles, half rainbow icing and they were the perfect finishing touch.
Rainbow Juice Bar
Utilizing the rainbow hexagon backdrop from our art party the juice bar made a great addition.
Trader Joe's is my favorite place to find fun real juices and every color is available. Add a fun label to let guests try an assortment.
The clear juice winners were the more “standard” flavors: Raspberry Lemonade and Mango Nectar. Not surprisingly the Carrot Turmeric was the least popular but also surprising was how many people ventured into the Green Goddess! So don't limit yourself to what you THINK people will like. It's always fun to try new things. All the juices were delicious and we had very little left over. Labels and Juice Bar Menu Sign also available in the shop.
It's Great to be 8
These rainbow number candles are another really fun addition to a rainbow party which we used for our Art Party.
Custom sugar cookies are an easy way to support any theme with cookie cutters in any shape or number. Using sprinkles in the dough is a fun way to add more color.
Simple cupcake toppers are another great way to celebrate the 8. You can turn anything into a food pick by adding a toothpick.
Adding a giant 8 mylar with rainbow balloons made for a fun photo opp.
