Mad Science Party Details with Cricut
Planning for the party is often just as much fun as hosting it. And my favorite part is adding little details that takes my simple party to a WHOLE NEW LEVEL with minimal effort. I want to show you show easy it is with these Mad Science party details I created using my Cricut. There are lots of ways to add detail but vinyl and iron-on have become my new go-to.
This post is not sponsored by Cricut. I am sharing because I love them and the things I can do with their products. I have however provided some affiliate links for your shopping convenience. Customized Specimen Trays
Keeping all the “ingredients” organized for the Mad Science Party activity called for a container of some kind for each guest. I scored these small wooden trays from Michael's Dollar bins as well as the Creatology paint that just so happened to come in two of my 3 party colors. You could keep them natural and they would still be cute but painting really tied the color palette together.
Materials needed to complete Science Specimen Trays:
- 5.5″ wooden tray: Michael's
- Paint in desired colors, I love the colors in the Martha Stewart Craft Paint Line: Michael's
- Foam Brush: Dollar Tree
- Paint palette: Oriental Trading {Or a plate!}
- Cricut Explore Air 2
- Black Glitter Vinyl
Then they needed a little dressing up. And it doesn't get much easier than a simple decal on the side with the perfect design! Since there weren't any linear designs I created this molecule string from a simple serotonin molecule file. {I'm pretty sure that's not what they look like when connected but if you scientists could give me a pass on this one I'd appreciate it!}
I decided on a swirling atom design for the bottom of the tray which was already designed and perfect!
The last piece was adding the names of my Mad Scientists. Thin fonts like Amatic can be tricky but with the strong grip transfer tape it's possible. You can pick up both cut files in Cricut's Design Space below.
Cut Files Needed for Science Specimen Trays:
Then proudly display them as your scientists get to work making monster slime! This Mad Science party detail, while not necessary, made the party go more smoothly and is pretty dang cute.
Mad Scientist Personalized Lab Coat
This might be my favorite of the Mad Science party detail!s It's my first iron-on project since I got my Easy Press {which I picked up on Amazon Prime Day for a song. Score!} and I'm IN LOVE!!! Our Scientists need to be working in style after all!
I found men's white dress shirts at the thrift store and took them in on the sides and back to fit the kiddos. Then created a pencil and notebook inside pocket decal, personalized names, and a biohazard symbol for the outside of the pocket. The kids absolutely loved this and felt so special in their new lab coats, name tag security passes, and safety glasses!
Materials needed to complete Mad Science Lab Coat:
- Small Men's White Dress shirt
- Black Everyday Iron-On
- Easy Press
- Cricut Explore Air 2
- Lab Coat Identification Cut File
Biohazard Beverage Beakers
The beaker cups are already super cute but adding the biohazard symbols ratchets it up a notch to make them more “Mad Science” for Halloween or birthday party.
Another new toy I picked up at the Cricut Mountain Make-a-thon is the Bright Pad. Having trouble seeing the cut lines on this dark glitter vinyl I remembered the light box and promptly took it out of the box for a maiden voyage. Photo above is with the light OFF.
Then you flip a switch and voila! You guys, it's seriously awesome. Check out how easy it is to see the cut lines now. Weeding intricate items just became a simple task.
Where did you find the cut file? I keep looking but can’t find anything like it anywhere?
Where did you get the goggles from?
This is such a fun theme party. I love all the creative details!
Great tips on how to use the Cricut. I entered the giveaway too 🙂
Such fun ideas!! You rock the details my friend!!
This is great Brianna! I love the lab coats and goggles. Dr. Isadora looks like she’s ready to solve some serious issues. I love my Cricut too! They make it so easy to make things look so good!
