Farmhouse Back to School Organization
Now that everyone is either back in school or very close I thought it would be helpful to share my new favorite piece in our home: farmhouse back to school organization in the form of bins, hooks, and a boot bench. I'd love to say that I DIY'd this myself. But alas I didn't. I DID design it however and the lovely ladies at Country Prim built it for me! They are a small refurbish, refinish, rebuild company in Grace, ID that I visit every time I visit my parents. This is not a sponsored post. I just love those ladies!

Tame the Chaos

Does your house ever look like this? Like. Every. Day. When the kids came home from school. Why? Because we didn't have a very good system for backpacks. I've been so inspired by the beautiful mudroom niches floating around, but don't have a niche space, so I decided to design my own farmhouse style organizational hanging wall.
Organizational Wall
In the hallway coming from our garage is where everything would gather. I took advantage of unused wall space and had this organizational wall built to the perfect size for my family using reclaimed barn wood, hinges, and a couple of old leather belts! I couldn't be more pleased with the result.
This fabulous 3-section wire bin also has hooks. I looked for ages to find the right thing and it's seriously the BEST hanging storage out there. It's from Restoration Hardware Baby & Child and was worth every penny.
A Home for Photos
Finally home for those annual school photos! Is it just me or are the school portraits sometimes awkward to display? They are small, sometimes forced, and usually awkward. I don't know but I've struggled with what to do with them. Until now! I'm sure your kids don't whine or complain but I love this little sign as a good reminder to “suck it up buttercup”! {the inspirational love notes are in their lunchboxes!}
A Bin for Each
Each child has a bin and they keep everything we need for those early mornings out the door! Have a sheet Mom needs to sign? Put it in the bin. Need to take something to show and tell? Put it in the bin. Don't forget your lunch…..you get the idea. It's been so nice to have everything all ready to go in the mornings. I simply add an icepack, the food and we're off. They love having their own spaces and has made pickup around the house much easier.
My 2nd grade bin holds her water bottle, super girls water bottle, calendar and notebook from Michaels. Apparently my 7 year old has enough to keep track of that she needs a planner! {Insert eye roll emoji!} But I sure do love her taste in superheroes!
My preschool bin holds his shark lunchbox, bike riding monkeys water bottle, {tried to get him to choose a coordinating shark water bottle to no avail! Who can resist a bike riding monkey!?} and art supplies. The WASHABLE crayons are a must – I've gotten so many smudges on my clothing that've been a huge pain to remove. I imagine this bin will get filled up with random toys, hats, balls, and garbage in no time. I will have to keep an eye on it!
My toddler bin is completely utilitarian. It holds diapers, wipes, a sippy cup, and his favorite ball for easy grabbing on the go. Now that he's two I leave the big diaper bag as often as not. This makes it easy to stuff all the critical items in my purse at a moments notice.
Where are your shoes?

How many times do you ask that question a day? Anyone else lose shoes by the caseload at their house? My children are masters of misplacing just ONE of their shoes. Sometimes never to be seen again. I had Country Prim make this little “boot bench” for the shoes to live so no matter what…each child has one pair of shoes at all times ready to go by the back door! No more excuses. I just love how cute it is!
Farmhouse Back to School Organization
And here they are all dressed up and ready to go to school! Our farmhouse back to school organization wall is doing it's thing. Not quite as lovely when it's loaded down with their stuff, but it's that just like real life? May not always be pretty but it sure is fun!
Do you DIY? This is a pretty easy project once you have your materials. Rather buy? If you can't make it to Southern Idaho for Country Prim, I'll bet there's someone in the area making pretty cool stuff. Check out the classified ads or Facebook Marketplace to find someone near you. Do you have any new tricks or tips for staying organized this back to school season? I'd love to hear about it. Now that we've got the kids organized, what should I do for myself!?
Until next time,
