DIY Butterfly Party Favor
…with a Free Printable and Cut File
Mini craft bags filled with caramel popcorn as a fun butterfly party favor!
Favors: super cute + really easy = happy momma.
Looking for an easy DIY Butterfly party favor? You've found it! I'm always looking for quick and easy ways to make my parties awesome. These are the favors from my daughter's Butterfly First Birthday Party, you can see all the party photos here. It was my first children's party and I learned a lot in the process. One of those great lessons is that favors need to be easy to assemble. Back in 2011 when I did these little bags I cut ALL of the grass by hand. Let me tell you it was not very much fun and took HOURS and HOURS. Well, it WAS therapeutic and I did it while watching Alias or some such series, so it wasn't all a waste. {wink} The butterflies I had to die-cut at my local scrapbook store.
Enter 2017…I am now the proud owner of a Cricut Explore Air. {Thank you Santa!} And I thought I'd go back and try these again. This time letting my Cricut Air do all the work. The grass is more contemporary “spiky” than soft and waving. This was selfish on my part so I could get 2 pieces for every scissor cut I did. Now, even though the machine does all the work, I've kept the design the same….why? Because it's still pretty dang cute! I'm also thrifty and love saving on paper. You can get (6) strips of grass from each 12×12 piece of cardstock. I've made it so easy you should probably try these DIY butterfly party favors today!!
Warning: If you use thick cardstock {or textured} it takes a pretty good adhesive to get it stuck down tight. I use a good coat of spray adhesive and it works great. {Always apply your spray adhesive outside or in a well ventilated area and FAR out of reach of children}

I can't tell you how much FASTER this DIY butterfly party favor project went! Instead of cutting for days, I had enough grass and butterflies for my bags in 5 minutes with my Cricut Air. I'm so glad I finally busted this thing out and figured out how to use it!! {Can you tell I'm excited!?} Hopefully I'll be coming out with lots more fun SVG files in the future for all you fellow cutters. Let me know which butterfly is your favorite or if there's a butterfly you'd like to see as a cut file.
