Mermaid Party Favor Bag Ideas Full of Ocean Treasures

Mermaid party favor bag ideas are a must for planning a birthday party for your Little Mermaid. Ok, well, party favors actually aren't strictly necessary but I LOVE building the theme into the favor and giving the kids something to wear, make, or do during the party that they can take with them at the end.

It's all about your favors playing double duty as a party activity. AND shopping around EARLY to get awesome sales on on-theme items. My advice, constantly check the Dollar Store…..

Mermaid Party Favor Bags

When working with party favors, set up a little station so guests know what they are, and where to grab them on the way out. I like personalizing my party favor bags with guest names so we can be sure everyone gets one. Also, that the right bag heads home with the right guest.

The favor table is best placed somewhere close to the exit.

Start with a plain white gift bag. These are my favorite as they're so versatile! Then add a mermaid favor bag label to make it cute as can be, AND match the rest of the party. I print the graphics on full sheet sticky labels then cut them down for my bags. It's more affordable than purchasing special sizes each time I need one. Plus, then I don't have to worry about the printer lining up with the template!

I typically have a thank you tag for each bag, but we found these cute preprinted mermaid tags so I just added names with a clear label and framed our thank you sign for the table. Since I can no longer find those cute tags, I'm also creating some and adding them to the shop for you. {coming to the shop soon}

Mermaid Treasure Chest

For the real party favors, create a table full of under the sea treasures. If you've got a treasure chest to use, even better! Sprinkle with shells and seaweed and you've got a treasure grotto Ariel would be proud of!

Mermaid Crown Party Favor Bag Idea

The crowns are mermaid headbands I found at Dollar Tree but you can snag others that are basically the same. Or try to find some more affordable headbands like these. Or even DIY your own by adding some mermaid details to regular princess crowns.

Mermaid Slippers Party Favor

These mermaid slippers are a little DIY project that's SO easy! Purchase affordable spa slippers and hot glue satin ribbon across the top of each slipper. Then add a vinyl mermaid sticker to the center of each one. OR add a mermaid detail with heat-transfer vinyl and an iron to your ribbon before gluing to the slippers.

To ensure a great fit of the satin ribbon, fold over the end and glue in place. Cut the piece of satin ribbon a little longer than necessary then run a bead of glue across the center and press your ribbon down, leaving a little space at the opposite end. To finish it off, fold the remaining raw end over and secure to create that perfect fit.

Please note: Adult slippers are easiest to find but they will be giant on little ones. Try to find kids slippers like these for a younger crowd.

Mermaid Pearl Necklace Favor

What's a mermaid without a string of pearls? Offer guests a lovely faux necklace to wear during the event and show off later at the photobooth.

I LOVE making custom soaps to match my party themes. These mermaid tail soaps are so stinking cute it'll be tough to actually use them. But this is an easy, affordable DIY party favor that is sure to impress.

Mermaid Bath Bombs

I happened upon dolphin bath bombs at Dollar Tree but since their selection is ever changing it's hit and miss whether we will ever find them there again. SO instead, you can purchase a few like these small bath bombs with prizes inside.

Or, make bath bombs with older guests to use as a learning activity.

Mermaid Sugar Scrub Favor Bag Idea

For our party, the sugar scrub was the easiest mermaid party spa DIY to create. SO each guest was able to mix up a batch of sugar scrub, then customize with their own shimmer powder, coloring, and scent. Mermaid Piñata

You may have noticed the mermaid piñata. I ordered her intending to use it as a piñata for a party activity. BUT she was so dang cute, we used her as a piece of decor instead! She's still hanging in my daughter's room a few years later.
