Party Backdrop Ideas for a Baking Birthday Party
A Baking Birthday Party is a must for an aspiring baker. My daughter loves being in the kitchen and baking especially…..I'm beginning to wonder if she really is MY child! 😂 Being in the kitchen has never been my favorite thing.
And baking? Nope. I don't have the patience for it. I'm too creative for that precise science.
So when my girl fell in love with baking I knew it was a talent I needed to support. And what better way to encourage a budding baker than to turn it into a party!? Cause parties make anything more fun!

Mini Bakery Party Backdrop as Photo Booth
Use a fold up banquet table and cover as desired. I love layering different colors of plastic table covers, just make sure to keep to the rule of thirds. The teal cover hangs down 1/3 of the way and then the final 2/3 are pink. It feels a lot better to do it that way than to divide it directly in half.
The striped awning is such a great piece to have on hand and can be used for LOTS of different things. We've used it for this baking birthday party, as a flower stand, and an ice cream shop. The themes are endless!
You can get the black and white awning here.
Sadly the black and white version is no longer available. But there's a red and white awning on the same frame you could potentially replace with black and white fabric. {Or any other fabric that works with your theme}
Then add a balloon garland to the side. I love mixing the clear confetti balloons in with the regular.
Use fishing line to tie your balloon garland onto the frame at the top, in the middle, and then again on the leg of the table to keep it in place.
We kept the colors light and simple and topped the garland off with a “Sweet Cupcake” mylar balloon. Perfect for a cupcake baking and decorating party! {and don't forget the EATING!}
Baking Birthday Party Accessories
Add a few baking accessories to the table to inspire your budding bakers. My Kitchenaid {wishing I could justify a brand new Aqua blue model} made a great piece, especially when backed by these sprinkle lanterns hung from the awning frame.
A mixing bowl and spoon in party colors was a fun prop for the girls to hold during the pictures.
As is this Faux Naked Cake from Confection Deception. They pretended to decorate it as well!
Then shop your house for anything in the desired color scheme. I happened to have this light pink sequined “Happy” cutout in our Valentine's Day decor bin that worked perfectly.
Baking Birthday Party Signage
The “Bake Shop – We are OPEN” sign is a free download from Oriental Trading's Fun365 site. This whole collection was designed by my friend Jennifer and was the inspiration for my WHOLE event!
I usually design my own graphics but it was SO nice to be able to just go order the whole thing over at Oriental Trading. It's the first time I've ever done it and I hope that my ideas can help you out just like Jennifer's helped me during a really busy time.
Get the Look:
- Black & White Striped Awning {Not available} This red and white awning is on the same frame
- Light Pink Peal Latex Balloons
- Pearl Aqua Latex balloons
- Gold and Light Blue Confetti Clear balloons {Or make your own using clear balloons and custom colored confetti}
- Cupcake Mylar Balloon {Similar}
- Sprinkle Paper Lanterns
- Large Bakery Shop Favor Boxes
- Faux Cake
- Large Gold Cakestand
- BAKE balloon letters
- Pink and aqua table covers – Zurchers or Party City
Once your backdrop is put together get ready to have some fun! And whip up an imaginary confection in the living room while the actual cupcakes bake in the oven.
Plus it just makes for a fun piece of party decor – even if you don't end up using it as a photo booth. Let your little bakers get silly and have fun. That's what a party is all about!
