Apple Nachos: How to Make a Fruit Wreath for Christmas
Apple nachos are fun way to serve your fruit! Plus who doesn't love a good platter of caramel apple slices!?
You can put whatever you'd like on your apple nachos like chocolate, Heath candy bits, Oreo crumbles, etc. But we're keeping it healthy for the holidays and staying true to the caramel, a little chocolate, and lots of fresh yummy apple slices.

Fresh Apple Nacho Ingredients
The ingredients here are SUPER simple:
- Granny Smith and Honeycrisp Apples
- Caramel sauce
- Chocolate sauce {optional}
- Strawberries for roses
- Fresh Mint for garnish
- Large red {strawberry, raspberry, cherry, etc} round fruit leather
Helpful Supplies
- Round Platter
- Sharp knife
- Sharpie
- Kitchen Shears
Apple Nacho Slices
Using your knife, cut and quarter the apples, and remove the seeds. Put the apple cut side down and slice as straight as you can. *Avoid the usual wedge shape as they won't lay flat.*
Arrange Apple Nachos on Platter
Now that your apple slices are cut, pat them dry, and start laying them out in a circle on your round platter. It's important to dry them off or the caramel will just slide off.
I like alternating the colors and creating several rows of apple slices. I ended up with 7 total rings in 4 layers.
Drizzle Apple Nachos
Once your apple nacho wreath is formed into a nice circle drizzle with your caramel sauce. This syrup was a little too thin so I'd recommend using a real caramel sauce you'll need to heat and soften first.
If desired, add a layer of chocolate drizzle to the apples as well. My children aren't in love with the chocolate apple nachos so feel free to skip it if that's the case for you as well.
How to Make a Fruit Wreath for Christmas
Add a few more layers of apples on top and repeat the caramel, add additional toppings and enjoy. BUT if you'd like to turn these nachos into a fruit wreath for Christmas keep reading for the fun details.
Strawberry Roses
Adding strawberry roses adds that festive red and green and makes it as close to a poinsettia as you can get with a strawberry!
I used this video tutorial to cut the berries and it's a lot easier than it seems. Just give yourself a few practice berries before using your perfectly round, slightly pointed strawberries.
Space your roses evenly around the apple nacho fruit wreath and add sprigs of fresh mint for the flower greenery.
Fruit Leather Bow
The fruit leather bow might just be my favorite part! It's also very easy when you have a bow pattern.
Simple supplies
- Large red fruit leather
- Dollar Tree bow
- Sharpie
- Kitchen shears
Simply take the Dollar store bow apart {Need a template? Let me know in the comments and I'll create one for you!} and trace the pieces onto the BACK of the fruit leather plastic.
Cut out the pieces using your kitchen shears and peel off the backing. It's a little tricky getting the plastic backing off each piece but be patient, it will eventually come off!
Once your pieces are cut take the large binocular looking piece and fold the sides into the center to create your bow.
Then place your bow onto the back piece and wrap the center with the small strip.
Once your bow is complete, add the streaming ribbons to the back using water to help “glue” them in place.
*PRO TIP: If your fruit leather is small, use two of them and trace the bow in two pieces. They'll come together in the center and the seams will be covered.
If the fruit leather is super sticky use the LESS STICKY side on the inside or the bow loops might stick to each other and be flat.
Add Accessories to Fruit Wreath
Place your fruit leather bow on the top, or bottom of your apple nacho fruit wreath for Christmas and admire your handiwork! Cause I mean, look at how cute it is!
