Fig Pizza with Blue Cheese

Sweet and savory pizza combo makes the perfect party appetizer

Equipment

  • Stand mixer
  • Pizza pan

Ingredients

  • 1 Pizza crust prepared
  • 3 tbsp Fig preserves
  • 1/2 Sweet onion sliced, caramelized
  • 1/4 cup Blue cheese crumbled
  • 1/2 cup Sharp cheddar shredded

Protein Options - choose ONE

  • 1/2 cup Roast chicken shredded
  • 1/2 cup Bacon crisp and crumbled
  • 8 slices Prosciutto

Optional

  • 1 sprig Fresh Rosemary chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees
  • Spread fig preserves onto your prepared crust.
  • Slice onions and sauté with a little oil or butter until they turn translucent, then continue until light brown and caramelized. Sprinkle on crust.
  • Prepare protein of choice and spread on crust.
  • Add blue cheese crumbles making sure not to leave any large clumps.
  • Sprinkle evenly with shredded sharp cheddar.
  • Top with chopped fresh herbs, like rosemary, if desired.
  • Bake for 15 minutes at 425 degrees.

Notes

For a quick and easy party appetizer use a prepared flatbread, naan, or pita bread
For a Gluten Free version prepare crust from a mix like Sun Flour Mills Pizza and French Bread baking mix.
