Pattern Party Trend for 2017…Top Trend #2

Every year we look ahead to what is new. This year I break down the four top party trends for 2017. Several existing trends are being built on and continue into the New Year, while a few old ideas are making a comeback with updated appeal. And we see a few classic themes re-imagined with fresh new graphic appeal.

Trend 2: Pattern creates a stunning “no theme” design

It's funny how the pendulum swings. Remember the ultra themed parties of the 00's? How about the overdone character parties we still see? Thinking about overdone events takes me back to this scene in My Big Fat Greek Wedding…

Many events suffer from the “keeping up with the Joneses” syndrome. And more and more of us are getting fed up with all the STUFF! One answer is to simplify. This pattern party trend uses texture to create a clean and classic “no theme” party that still turns heads.

Hexagons

The hex is one of those elements that waited a very long time to come back into fashion. We've had the classic hex mosaic floor tiles for decades but that's kind of all it was good for. Until now…the hex is back in full force. Hexagons have featured heavily in the interior design market for the last few years and found their way into wedding design. How long do you think before they take the stage for bridal showers, or teen and adult birthday parties?

Marbling

It's no secret that Carrara marble is the belle of the ball. We haven't been able to get enough of this classic white marble with elegant black and grey veining for everything from our kitchen counters to our bathroom soap dish! At one time you would only find this style of marble in historic buildings or established {possibly dated} restaurants. No one would have dreamed of putting it in their modern homes! Now we have marble on the runway, at our weddings, and I see it moving on over to birthday parties. And with good reason. This pattern party trend is stunning.

These marbeled Oreos are a great example of color. Keep it sleek or liven it up as much as you want!

Polka Dots

The dot craze is a fun and whimsical look. Great for any type of event but especially for a children's party. You could use it for a “Have a ball” party theme, balloon theme, confetti theme, or a stand alone “dot” theme. Perfect for any sweet little Dorothy's out there.

Loving the polka dots! No theme party with pattern and color. Pattern Party Trend | Halfpint Design - Trend Spotting, color trends, party trends

This gumball themed party uses a great polka dot garland backdrop for a candy table. While I'm not a huge fan of the candy table, this is certainly very cute! You can read more about why I say NO to dessert buffets.

This confetti balloon from ETSY is a recent trend that I LOVE! It's a fact that children love balloons. How much cooler does this make your average balloon? Answer: WAAAAY cooler!

Copper

Copper is slowly taking over gold for metallics. We haven't been able to get enough gold the last few years. Gold became rose gold which is turning into copper. Copper has featured in farmhouse style for years but hasn't gone mainstream until recently. This isn't a theme per se but it does add an element of sophistication to any event. Check out a few great ways to incorporate copper & rose gold into your next party:
