Thanksgiving Table Decorations
You don't need a ton to create a beautiful holiday table. But one thing is a must, and that's a table runner with some pieces of decor! But be careful not to over decorate or there's not enough room for the food. And let's face it…..that's why everyone comes.
Get the Look:
- Blue-Gray Cheesecloth table runner
- Faux white pumpkin for vase
- Woven chargers
- Rose gold cutlery
- Maple leaf napkin with gold
- Dessert paper plates {no longer available from Michael's} – cute pumpkin plate option here
- Paper napkins {no longer available from Michael's} – cute pumpkin napkin option here
Thanksgiving Table Runner
There are lots of decoration options to use for a Thanksgiving table runner. This blue-gray cheesecloth table runner is light and flexible. Scrunch it together for a thin runner or spread it out to cover more of the table.
The light cheesecloth fabric allows it to be styled more like a scarf, as it angles left and right at the ends of the table.
Once your runner is in place shop your house for Fall themed decorations. I have quite a collection of pumpkins and they come in so handy. Dollar Tree is a great place to stock up on the little velvet pumpkins but you'll want to be shopping for them in September before they sell out for the season.
Thanksgiving Centerpiece Decorations
The star of any table of course is the centerpiece! And what better Thanksgiving decoration for a table than a pumpkin vase of flowers!? You can purchase a ready-made bouquet or put together blooms of your choice to fit the table's color scheme.
We stuck with yellows and oranges and added a little bit of blue with the hydrangeas to tie in the place settings. Arrange flowers in a glass container and set inside your faux or real pumpkin. *If using a real pumpkin, make sure to rinse the inside with vinegar to repel mold and enjoy longer.*
Once your flowers are set in your pumpkin, add in a few pumpkin picks, fall leaves, or other Thanksgiving decorations.
And if you have TWO tables {let's face it, there can be a lot of people!} you do not have to use matching centerpieces. My second table is smaller so this wooden turkey I found at a thrift store was perfect. Though you will want to tie the two tables together by using some of the same elements like mini vases of the same flowers, and the same {or similar} place settings.
Thanksgiving Table Place Settings
Thanksgiving table settings don't have to be complicated. They CAN be, but it's not necessary. The faux rattan chargers are a great way to anchor each place. But a scalloped kraft paper placemat could do the job just as well.
Rose gold plastic utensils are a great way to add some more color but they don't hold up well to meat – so also give your guests a steak knife for their turkey.
They layer up your plates. I love using 3 different plates. 1 for your main meal, another for salads, and the last, smallest for dessert. This is a great time to use a patterned paper plate on top for color and texture. With a couple of fun paper napkins to tie it all in together like these Maple leaf napkins.
Sadly this paper set is no longer available from Michael's but there are some great pumpkin options that would be really cute too. You'll see the napkin is unfolded and under the plate for another little pop of color.
And if you'd like to add a little favor, just place it on top. I chose to make mini hand soap and you can learn how to do it too. {Post coming soon}
Or assign your seating with cute place cards that are editable. You can use them as food labels on the buffet table as well!
Thanksgiving Decoration Details
A few fun pieces you can add to the table are fancy pumpkins, and a butter turkey sculpture. Ever seen one? It's so fun to see guests faces light up when you bring it to the table! Check out your local fancy grocery store.
If you need a piece of decor in the kitchen a tiered tray is a great place to store extra napkins and snack plates. Tuck in a few mini pumpkins, hay bales, and fall flowers for a finished look.

- Acorn plates – unavailable: pumpkin & leaf plates
