Surf Party Food Ideas Perfect for a Summer Birthday
Surf Party Food ideas are a must when planning a summer surf themed birthday party! If you are a crazy party lady like me, you want the menu to match the surfer theme. AND to color coordinate. 🤣 Hah!
But it's okay if you're just looking for yummy food. I've got you covered there too. Food seems to be the focal point of all events, although I must admit the decor is my FAVORITE, it's definitely a bonus when there's also great food!
Surf's Up Menu
Hawaiian Inspired eats are always a good idea for a surf party! Some great ideas for a surf party menu include:
- A non-Hawaiian cheese and cracker plate for starters
- Kailua Pork Sandwiches
- Mac salad
- Sticky Rice
- Green salad with miso dressing
- Grilled pineapple
Surf Themed Party Food Table
Serving your food in fun ways makes your event more memorable, and using individual containers also makes it safer. These wax bag lined woody favor boxes made the perfect vehicle for our surfwiches.
And a bamboo surfboard shaped cutting board is a great way to display a cheese board. If you are worried about grazing safely, create individual boards, or a board per family.
We only had two families for our dinner so I designed the surf cheese board to serve one family on either side.
Healthy Surfer Food Birthday Numbers
A great way to showcase the birthday ages is using fruit and cookies cutters. Not to mention color coordinate in a fun and healthy way. Your party table doesn't always have to include a lot of candy to still be surf themed party food!
The bowls of fruit were served by one person {myself} to each plate to eliminate another touch point of serving spoons.
Then the birthday boys laid claim to their fruit number and proudly munched their healthy treats.
Color Coordinated Drinks
How about the color coordinated sodas? Um yes, please! They look so cute on the table but are also quite functional as we try to reduce the touch points at our gatherings. Punch bowls, cute dispensers, and large soda bottles pose a potential risk with too many hands.
Serving individual bottles reduces this issue, just make sure you're recycling the glass and plastic bottles at the end of the party!
Surf Party Cake Ideas
Are you a great cake baker and decorator? If you can say yes, I'm super jealous and very proud of you. If not, you are in REALLY good company. I have made it my life's mission to figure out how to make store bought cakes look good!
This ice cream cake from Baskin Robins was delicious, but needed a little surf party flare.
First, little surfboard “cupcake toppers” are a great place to start for the cake perimeter.
Then, add a fun cake topper like this “Happy Birthday Surfer Dude” from my shop.
And finally a few fresh flowers fill in the space perfectly. Flowers aren't just for girl cakes you know!
My boys were thrilled with how this cake turned out so don't be afraid to experiment a little with your next store bought cake!
