13 Days of Halloween
It's Day 4 of the annual “13 Days of Halloween ideas” with Jordan at Jordan's Easy Entertaining. I’ll be posting new Halloween ideas Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays all month long. This year the theme is MAGICAL BOOKS and I'll share tips for a Room on the Broom Halloween party as well as Harry Potter inspired Halloween ideas.
Check back each week on the blog, Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. Or better yet, JOIN ME to receive a weekly summary straight to your inbox each weekend so you don't miss a single Halloween thing.
Simple Strawberry Mushroom Ingredients
You can make these SO easily! You need just a few things:
- Strawberries
- Angel Food Cake
- Toothpicks
- Cupcake Corer
- Sharp Paring Knife
Punch Your Mushroom Stems
Cut your angel food cake into 1 to 1-1/2″ slices and lay them down onto the cutting board. Use the cupcake corer to create 6 stems per piece depending on the size of the cake.
You may have seen me use this cupcake corer a few times with our Apple Donuts, and Peanut Butter and Granola Apple Sandwiches. I rarely use it for actual cupcakes…..but it does work great for that too!
Slice the Strawberries
After your angel food cake stems are done, rinse your strawberries. Choose large strawberries that are round in shape instead of ones that start growing in an oval shape. These make the most realistic looking strawberry mushrooms.
I love using a fruit and veggie wash to make sure my produce is free of any possible pesticides, wax, and dirt. Once clean, slice the stems straight off the top of each strawberry.
After your strawberries are ready, insert a toothpick into the center of each stem. Push the toothpick down to the bottom for maximum support.
Enjoy your Strawberry Mushrooms
These mushrooms are top heavy so plan serving them laying down, propped up in a container, or tiered tray.
Perfect for a Gnome Themed Party
These strawberry mushrooms are perfect for a gnome themed party like the one I hosted last Christmas. They are also wonderful for a woodland birthday, fairy garden party, Super Mario Brothers celebration, or even a Halloween witch potion ingredient!
I used them as a treat for a Room on the Broom themed Halloween party. Where will you use them? It's never too late to add something cute AND healthy to your next party menu! Darling witch themed tiered tray from Grandin Road. And these pineapple star fruit wands were another hit!
If you make strawberry mushrooms, I'd love to hear about it in the comments below. Which theme did you use them for? And if you share photos, I want to see it too! Please tag us @partieswithacause on Facebook, Instagram, and Pinterest. We love celebrating all your hard work!
