Patriotic Mantel Decor
I love decorating my home for the holidays and I developed a soft spot for patriotic decor when my son was born on the 4th of July! I'll walk you through how I've laid out my Patriotic Mantel Decor AND give you all my sources if you'd like to get this look! Make notes of any parties you have coming up to give this Holiday Decor Double Duty for your event theme.

All ideas are my own and I would never recommend anything that I wouldn't use myself. Please see my disclosure page for any questions. Hello! Nice to meet you.
First I'll introduce you to my Great Room mantel. {Hello!} It's concrete mantel that came with the house. I have a craftsman style home so we stick with a little more rustic decor.
Window: The gorgeous reclaimed window I pulled out of a dumpster across the street on clean up day. {super proud of that!} It's worth dumpster diving at times, as people throw away the most amazing things!
Paint Color: The lighting in this room is terrible so the color of the accent wall never looks quite right. I LOVE it, so don't let the pictures fool you. This neutral green is such a relaxing cozy color that I actually also used it in my bedroom as well! Sherwin Williams Colonial Revival Green Stone #SW2826
Now that we've gotten to know each other a bit, I'll take you on a tour of the details:
Patriotic Mantel Decor Details:
Containers with Flowers
Flowers in Vases: I've got tall artificial flowers in bark vases that anchor each side of the mantel. I love having tall items at the end to frame in my window.
- Birch Bark Vases 9″: Save-on-Crafts
- Artificial Magnolia Stems off-white, 3 pc: Target {the dogwood I used is no longer available but this really close!}
- Peach Blossom Spray: Michael's
Baskets: I scored a couple of Americana Baskets at Savers Thrift Store a year or so ago. I happen to be a BIG thrift shopper. I don't think of myself as cheap, I like to think I'm resourceful! Plus when you have an event, holiday, and party decor obsession like I do it's helpful on the budget when you can score great stuff at tiny prices. Drop a red geranium in and viola! A patriotic piece of mantel or table decor is born.
Tea Light Holders: Speaking of great stuff, the blue star tea light holder was a Target Dollar Spot find. You never know what they are going to have so I make it habit to stop in every time I'm planning an event. {and every time I go into the store!} I lined the holder with silver cardstock, then a layer of foil, and actually planted the blue lobelia right inside!
- Vintage Pint Size Mason Jar Painted: Tracees Treasures, Etsy {since the Dollar Spot is always changing you could sub for painted mason jars, galvanized buckets, or any other fun little container that will hold water}
- 8.5×11 Silver Metallic Cardstock 80lb: Amazon
- Lobelia: Home Depot
Pro tip: Whenever you can find great looking artificial plants a reasonable price, GRAB THEM! IKEA, Target, Michael's, and Home Goods are great places to keep an eye out. I'm using live plants but it's not super practical for a mantel. They live on my kitchen island so I can water them daily and I put them back up anytime someone comes over!
Framed Art
The damask print is simply a framed piece of flocked scrapbook paper. I don't actually scrapbook, but I still find myself buying gorgeous paper when I find it. Cause I mean, come on, who can pass up that beauty? Well, I eventually found a perfect place for it. “Earth Laughs in Flowers” was inspired by a spring printable from The Lettered Cottage, but I wanted a stronger font so I tweaked it and made it navy blue. I love flowers and every thing green.
- Damask Flocked Taffeta Fabric, Red: Amazon {This paper isn't available anymore but this fabric would be amazing}
- RIBBA Frame: IKEA
- Earth Laughs in Flowers FREE printable Right here!
- Rustic White Frame, 5×7: Michael's
- Metal Star Marquee: Target {I picked mine up with a coupon at Michael's but they are no longer in stock. This one from Target is bigger and is the same price!}
Banners
Pennant banners and garlands are a MUST have across the front of your mantel. I like to layer different styles to give it depth and fill in the huge vertical space. The burlap banner was purchased but I DIY'd the pin-up garland.
- USA Burlap Banner: Cracker Barrel {of all places!} They don't have it any more but here is a simplified USA banner on Etsy, and a cute bunting banner with Stars and Stripes on Etsy

Party Fans
Buy: My favorite addition this year are the Patriotic Party Fans! They are bright, cheery, and glittery! What's not to love? You can purchase them like I did from My Minds Eye Stars and Stripes Party Fans: Amazon
DIY: Or if you want to make your own here's a great tutorial for your electronic paper cutter from Jordan's Easy Entertaining. We both LOVE our Cricut Explore Air. It's a great investment to make if you plan to do any paper, vinyl, or fabric DIY.
Finishing Touches
Books: We finish it off with my books from the Thrift Store. I just looked through a gazillion books, peeking under cover after cover until I found the right colors. Bonus points that the titles are somewhat patriotic related. “The Challenge”, “Kennedy Weddings”, The Revolution” all seemed to be appropriate!
Mini-Globe: Books topped off with a mini-globe strategically turned to show the Americas. You can get it here: Antique Ocean Swivel and Tilt Globe, 4″: Amazon
Anything is Possible: Anything is Possible with Love. Love for freedom, love of a country, love of an ideal. Our little colonies accomplished an impossible feat through love. It's strange to describe war in those terms but it's true in a sense. I love this print I got from Target for the 4th and also for Valentine's Day. Sadly, it's no longer available but they have really fun stuff.
That's a Wrap
We've come to end of our tour. I hope you enjoyed the ride and feel inspired to create, or add to, your own patriotic mantel decor. I'd love to have you share your patriotic mantel decor with me so we can learn from each other. Happy manteling! {yes, I made that up, but I'm going with it!}
Until next time,
