Humorous Gender Reveal Party Ideas
Last week we explored 7 Classy Gender Reveal Party Themes. Today I want to talk about gender reveal party ideas that have a sense of humor. These are sillier themes that usually communicate an interest of mom and dad. This is also the more controversial side of the gender reveal which have drawn criticisms against the stereotypical assignments for boys and girls. I can see the point and kind of agree, but brings meaningful personalization for the couple, their interests, or their past. If mom is a dancer and dad played football, I totally understand the “Touchdowns and Tutu” theme. Plus it’s cute and décor options boundless, but we probably should remember that not all boys will be quarterbacks and not all girls will be ballerinas. Here’s a list of humorous themes that people seem to love for their gender reveal parties:

Touchdowns or Tutus?
Since we started out with a football example here are a couple of touchdowns and tutus gender reveal party ideas:
Lots of great details, by Z. Curlett Events here for the football sports fan AND the dancer. Is that a chocolate Heisman Trophy I see!? Love the darling tutus which could be an outfit for baby, or the next baby shower gift if you’re having a boy.

Nuts or No nuts?
This one is definitely on the “less-than-classy” list of theme for gender reveal party ideas! But it’s plenty silly and so it makes our humorous list as well. You can use anything that has the option for nuts. For example: Almond Joys, and Mounds. Just make sure you don’t invite anyone with a nut allergy!

Nuts or no nuts applies to brownies, cheese balls, caramel apples, an ice cream sundae bar, or anything you can put nuts on. Or not. Betty Crocker brings us this Ultimate Turtle Brownie recipe. Chocolate chip topped “healthy” brownie recipe found on Greatist.
Bun in the oven, Cupcake or Studmuffin?
This party was actually really cute, so why am I cringing at the theme? I suppose I take issue with the term “stud muffin,” but she did it well.
This food related gender reveal theme is from My Title Wave. What did they serve? Cupcakes and muffins of course! Similar invite available here.
My Title Wave also made darling little retro oven treat boxes for guests to take home those extra cupcakes. You never know what’s cooking at a gender reveal!
We’ve got a twist here on the “bun in the oven”. I like the food centered theme and neutral colors. Invitation from Touchdowns or Tutus on Etsy {It’s a company AND a theme!}
Bows or Arrows?
This bows or arrows gender reveal party idea is the most mild of all the humorous themes and could have made the classy list. Taking cues from the very popular Boho Tribal birthday party and baby shower theme, this Native American inspired gender reveal is better at avoiding stereotyped symbols and color palettes. Check out my whole Bows or Arrows Gender Reveal Party Ideas post here for more great party resources!!
This invite from Fanster Design on Etsy is definitely my favorite gender reveal theme in the humor category!
Here’s a darling Bows or Arrows tally sheet for you from Plus One Printables. She’s also got a matching invitation.
Pirate or Mermaid?
“It’s a pirate’s life for me” themed party and everyone had fun! Especially them! Party by Nicole Davidge, it’s pretty fun!
Race Cars or Ruffles? and Wheels or Heels?
These two themes are similar enough to share the spotlight. Checkered flags and monster trucks with an elegant twist.

Monster trucks and high heels are a hilarious combination if you ask me. Since I have actually combined both of those things before, I can relate! You can read about it in my Worst Valentine’s Date Ever post. Wheel or Heels banner from Ichabod’s Imagination on Etsy.

Themed wheels or heels pins, from Put On Your Party Cap on Etsy, make it easy to see what each guest thinks the baby will be.
We are now entering the country living category. This city girl was raised in the country and I can relate to ALL of them. Some of you “city-slickers” {wink} might not, but I bet your father could!
Lures or Lace?
Fishing is a big time hobby for lots of people with access to water. This isn’t necessarily a country thing. Lures and lace gender reveal party idea.
I love how classy they made this theme look. They had fish in pink AND blue. For a girl that grew up fishing, that made it feel a little more inclusive. Photos by Aislinn Kate Photography
From another Lures and Lace party, this gender reveal cake really sums it up. Image found on Pinterest, sorry, no link.
Buck or Doe?
Hunting is another HUGE pastime outside city limits. I grew up in a hunting family. Often seen as just a sport, it also provides food for families through the winter. So if you are an Bambi lover, try not to judge. {wink} But if you love camo, this buck or does gender reveal party theme is the one for you!
This fan backdrop from Pleats on Sheets works well for behind the food buffet or photobooth
A deer with a tie? Okay. Now it’s even better! This is a great in-between for those that want a fun theme done in a classier style. Find a similar invitation here.
If camo isn’t your thing, these cookies from I Frost Cookies have a modern woodland take on the Buck or Doe gender reveal theme that is one more rung up the classy ladder. Stephanie at Little Rose Cookie Co. can create any custom design you want.
Boots or Bows?
I have a cowboy farmer for a brother. I know, it’s weird that we have the same parents. But we do. And I LOVE him and the way he’s chosen to spend his days tilling the earth, working HARDER than anyone I’ve ever met. Farmers are good people. Salt of the earth. So I’m kinda partial to the boots or bows gender reveal party idea…
A cowboy theme is always a good time. Boots or bows invitation by Paper Peach Shop on Etsy.
Everyone should own at least one pair of cowboy boots. Love these darling little pink boots for a girl. The green John Deere boots are perfect for a boy! {Or a girl!} Photo by Molly Davis Photography.
Guns or Glitter? and Pistols or Pearls?
These are also pretty similar so we’ll take a look at our last two theme ideas together. This would be a great gender reveal party theme for a police officer, military family, or anyone that’s REALLY in to target practice!
This guns and glitter gender reveal cake is impressive. Found at Momooze

Summary
As a woman that loves glitter, pearls, and high heels that also fishes, shoots, and enjoys monster trucks, I assume that some of these gender reveal party ideas must fall under the “twin girl” baby shower category! Right? Stereotypes and mild sexism aside, I do have a sense of humor and can see how these themes in the “not so classy” section would be a great fit for certain couples, personalities, and hobbies. With SO many gender reveal party theme options out there, how will you show your personality? Will you keep it classy or go for humor? I’d love to see what you come up with. Please share your gender reveal party ideas with us at Halfpint Design.
