Halloween Snack Mix Ingredients
It's easy to make a snack mix and customize for your preferences. Just choose the cereals your family likes best.
- Rice Chex – I love these as a base for all my snack mixes
- Green cereal – Apple Jacks is a classic
- Cheetos “Bag of Bones” – during Halloween, not healthy but fun to add just a bit
- Dried fruit of choice: golden raisins, coconut chunks, bananas, apples, kiwi, etc.
- Nuts or seeds of choice: Pumpkin seeds, pistachios, sunflower seeds, marcona almonds, etc.
- Themed fruit snacks in green
- Treat: Frankenstein Monster Peeps
Prep Your Snack Ingredients
What is there to prep? Don't you just toss it all together?
Yes.
And no.
Chex: For a party snack I make sure to only use whole cereal pieces. A quick sort through will work taking out the broken and smashed pieces.
Green Cereal: If you have green cereal like Apple Jacks with other colors you'll need to sort through and just get the green ones. Too bad Franken-Berry cereal is pink.
Fruit Snacks: Same goes for the fruit snacks – sort through and pull the green ones. Save the rest in a ziploc bag for later.
Easy Halloween Snack Mix Assembly
It's easiest to lay out all your ingredients and add small handfuls of them to your serving jar in layers. This is one that you shouldn't try to stir or it'll break the cereal pieces.
Just make sure to place a Monster Peep at regular intervals so you can see them on the outside of the jar.
You can even make it a game and see who can create a full skeleton with the “Bag of Bones” Cheetos.
Keep Your Halloween Snack Mix Fresh
To keep your Halloween snacks fresh you'll want to mix this up on the day you serve it. Otherwise the moisture in the fruit snacks, dried fruit {there's still some moisture}, and Peeps will cause your cereal to soften and taste stale.
But it's such an EASY mix to toss together it's not a big deal to mix it up several times if you store your ingredients separately in sealed bags.
Halloween Centerpiece – Frankenstein Flowers
Once your Halloween snack mix is all ready to go, you can make the table more festive with these Bride of Frankenstein tin can “vases”. Grab the easy upcycle DIY here – Simple Halloween Centerpiece {coming soon}
And display it on a spooky tray, unfortunately this one has been discontinued at Grandin Road but you could use a:
Then of course….add monster stitches to EVERYTHING!
Now that your vase is ready, be sure to throw in some pretty greens, pumpkin picks, and your favorite blooms. Here I used:
- Dianthus Barbatus or the “green ball” stem
- Seeded eucalyptus
- White Stock
- Peach Roses
- Dollar Tree Pumpkin picks
