Mad Science Birthday Party Ideas for Halloween Lovers
Need Mad Science Birthday party ideas? Or think this would be a fun theme for a classroom, Halloween party, or play date? Either way, you are in the RIGHT place! Kids LOVE science experiments and there's no shortage of fun to be had with this one.

Mad Science Party Invitations

Set the stage for your Halloween party in style with these printable Mad Science Halloween party invitations in the shop. A Birthday option is also available.
Mad Science Party Details

These stacked SCIENCE Favor Boxes create a centerpiece for the table. They are large enough to hold an 8oz jar of slime and a couple of other non-candy treats perfectly.
Scene Setters Science Laboratory Backdrop

My kids chose this Science Lab Scene Setter out of the Oriental Trading catalog when planning this party. And while I love the idea of these backdrop images, the plastic is hard to work with. The creases are difficult to remove and light reflects off the uneven surface. BUT the kids were super impressed by it. So I have a night shot of the table during the party with the lights in the back. It definitely looks cool but just be aware that getting great daylight photos is tricky.

Science Party Ware

After the backdrop is settled, take a look at these science party beaker dessert plates! I absolutely love them. They come in a pack with 4 colors but I set the red ones aside to keep a consistent color scheme.
Scientist Laboratory Access ID Badges

Each guest received a printable ID badge in a plastic pouch on a lanyard. The editable ID badges are available in the SHOP. Plastic pouch and non-retractable lanyards are available here. {BTW – I recommend NOT using the retractable kind with kids}

Prep Your Scientists

With their fancy ID badges, custom white lab coats, and safety goggles your guests will be ready to tackle the questions of the universe. You can see how I created budget lab coats in Mad Science Party Details. I haven't started selling these yet in the shop, but if you don't have an electronic cutting machine email me for a custom iron-on order.
Safety Goggles

These Dollar Tree glasses are hilarious. They don't work super well but are fabulous for photos and actually worked pretty well for some of the experiments as real safety glasses. Tuck the red nose aside for another day and your little scientists will be thrilled. {these also work pretty well for Harry Potter glasses – I used them for my Professor Trelawney costume too!}
Test Tube Sprinkles for Cupcakes

Each guest received a personalized “specimen” tray to use for cupcake decorating. Half of the cupcakes have white chocolate brain toppers, the other half have printable toppers.

Let guests choose a cupcake and sprinkles, then proceed with a brain dissection class as a group! To learn how to create your own specimen trays try Mad Science Party Details for more info.
Featured Products:
- Mad Science Cupcake Wrappers – part of the Mad Science Party Printable Bundle
- Mad Science Cupcake Toppers
Mad Science Halloween Slime Creation Station

After your cupcakes are dissected and eaten it's time for making slime! Provide each guest with a pair of “safety goggles” and a radioactive jar to hold the finished product.
Top regular plastic jars with the biohazard cupcake toppers printed on label paper and cut with a 2″ circle punch. You can definitely try to cut out the circles by hand but they never turn out very well and the punch it totally worth the cutting time it saves you!

We didn't get photos of the slime in action {sorry} but for a younger crowd prepare your ingredients by pre-portioning the glue in each jar. Then instruct them to add their desired mix-ins and pour test tubes with measured amounts of contact solution. Let them stir it up with popsicle sticks until their slime is the perfect consistency.
Get the basic recipe here: Slime without Borax

- Gallon Clear school glue
- Plastic Test Tubes
- Slime Activator= ReNu Contact Solution
- Baking Soda

Mad Science Halloween Party Food Ideas

Serve colored drinks in Biohazard beaker cups with curly straws and jello specimens with sprinkles in Petri Dishes. Learn how I customized these cups on Mad Science Party Details.

Caramel popcorn gets a little spooky with a sprinkling of candy eyes in graduated plastic beakers.

And more Jello specimens creep guests out with fruit leather bug strips!
Mad Science Party Brain Cake

This mad science party brain cake is pretty creepy! You don't need both the cupcakes AND a cake but this is another really fun option to serve a little older crowd. And it's pretty easy to make if you follow this Red Velvet Brain Cake Tutorial
Grape Molecule Building Snack

Another edible activity is a little healthier this time! Green grapes make the perfect tool for building molecules. Read more on Grape Molecule Food Science Activity.
Educational AND Fun Mad Science Halloween Party

This Mad Science Birthday Party theme proves you can have a great time while also learning new things. Who knew science could be so fun!? Well, I did. But it's great to continue introducing the concepts to the younger generation. Keep those imaginations soaring. They're inheriting a lot of problems in this world and we need them to come up with creative solutions!
It's pretty cool that a simple party could encourage a little more of that! But this science theme is great all year round. Use these ideas in the classroom or for an awesome Halloween party.
I promise the kids will NOT be disappointed! If you try out this Mad Science Birthday Party I'd love to hear about it in the comments below. And if you share photos, I want to see it too! Please tag us @partieswithacause on Pinterest, Facebook, and Instagram. We love celebrating all your hard work!
