Baby Shower food ideas abound when it comes to a Halloween themed baby shower! It can be fun and spooky, or soft and whimsical. This “We've Created a Monster” theme is perfect for those who love a little monster magic. We take our lead today from Frankenstein and his Bride for the design, details, and color palette.
It's Day 5 of our 13 Days of Halloween. Every year I try to come up with fun ideas that surround a general theme. This year we're doing Frankenstein and sharing all things Mad Science and green. If you missed yesterday's post it's here: Day 4 – Halloween Flowers and Frankenstein Decoration Ideas

Halloween Baby Shower Invite
First things, first, You've got to get your invitation and this was the inspiration for the whole event! Grab your “We've Created a Monster” baby shower invitation in the shop here.
Baby Shower Food Table Backdrop
A fun backdrop makes your party food taste even better! It's a proven fact. {okay, maybe not scientifically proven, but I definitely think it's true} And it doesn't need to be fancy to make an impact. Here's what you need to to recreate this backdrop for yourself:
Get the Look:
- Extra-large white tablecloth 90″x156″
- Black creepy cloth {or check your local Dollar Tree}
- Rectangle black tablecloth 60″x120″
- 13 Silver letter balloons to spell “Little Monster”
- Backdrop stand {if you don't have a solid wall}
- Black spray paint {for tops of letters}
- Dressmaker's white marking pencil
- Fabric Scissors
- Decorative stretch spiderweb
- Plastic spiders
- 1/2″ Permanent Glue-Dots
WHITE BACKDROP: Once you have your white cloth set up, I like using thumb tacks for the top and clear tape for the sides to affix it to the wall. If you don't have a solid wall, use a backdrop stand with clamps.
CREEPY CLOTH: Next, you'll want to drape the creepy cloth down the sides to the floor. You can take it out as far as you need to. I wanted to cover up the full wall and wrap around the corners.
BLACK DRIPS: For the top of the wall, using your black tablecloth use a white marking pencil to draw an undulating line to resemble dripping slime. Then, cut along the design with fabric scissors leaving yourself a tablecloth with a dripping edge for the food table, and a separate line of drips for the ceiling line. {or top of the backdrop stand}
Halloween Baby Shower Final Details
BALLOONS: You need 13 letters silver letter balloons to spell “Little Monster” these are 16″ tall so make sure you start placing them high on the wall so they don't interfere with the food table. I chose to spray the top 1/3 of each letter to give it a creepy feel.
SPIDERS & WEBS: Using the stretch spiderweb create a spooky corner with a large web. Reach the side wall if possible or attach to a piece of furniture or decorative element nearby. Once you're happy with the web, begin adding spiders like they're climbing up the web and onto the table. Use the larger spiders on the bottom and have the smaller ones near the top. Using Glue-Dots you can get the smaller ones to stick to the tablecloth.
HALLOWEEN SERVING PIECES: Unfortunately the ones i have are discontinued at Grandin Road, but they have other fun stuff if you're looking to add to your Halloween serving ware collection. But here are some other options that would work perfectly instead:
- 3-tiered stand
- Black cake stand
- Hanging cauldron bowls
- Cauldron serving bowl
- Large white chip & dip tray
Halloween Baby Shower Food Ideas
Baby shower food should be easy to eat and serve. Much of our menu was finger foods but I had utensils available for the pasta salad.

Green Baby Shower Food Ideas
Tortellini salad: Use tri-color tortellini but only use the green and white noodles. Boil and add pesto, balsamic vinegar, black olives, sliced tomatoes, and cubed white cheddar.
Finger sandwiches: Make full sandwiches then cut off crust and slice into long “finger” strips. Store with a barely damp paper towel over the top to keep from drying out until serving.
- White bread with spinach dip spread and sliced cucumbers
- Dark brown bread with chicken salad
Round out your meal with purple corn chips – or keep an eye out for black chips in October. And serve with a creamy green avocado hummus. Not at all spicy but super delicious. If chips aren't your style or you want something more fancy you can try dark crackers with green and purple vegetables.
Halloween Baby Shower Drink Idea
With a Halloween themed party it's always fun to have a great punch with a little bit of dry ice fog.
But make sure to also serve a sparkling or flavored water for those that would prefer it. Liquid Death brand water is of course my favorite Halloween go to.
For another fun Baby Shower twist I created a Monster Sunrise Mocktail for the party. The momma-to-be might not want to have too much Monster just yet, but it's a great thing to have on hand after the baby is born! Get the Monster Sunrise Recipe here. {coming soon}
Halloween Baby Shower Treat Ideas
Keep it simple with a couple sweet options and something fruit based.
- Green apples and optional caramel
- Green macarons
- Naked cake drizzled with dark chocolate & pistachio ice cream
Green Apples: Your sweet treats don't always need to have a lot of sugar. Green Granny Smith apples with painted on stitches make lovely table decor and a delicious snack. I cut small stitches out on vinyl to create stencils to use for each apple. Then painted on the stitches using 2 coats of Edibleart Black Cake Paint. Let it dry and peel off your stencil.
Green Macarons: For the pistachio macarons I used a food grade paint brush and simply drew the stitches on each cookie.
Naked Cake: This naked cake is a vanilla cake with cookies and cream filling, cream cheese frosting, and dark chocolate drip. Don't forget the dark chocolate stitches though! And of course the “Little Monster” Cake topper from my talented friend Erica at Avalon Sunshine. It's the perfect little detail.
