Classy Wonder Woman Party
What do you do when you are turning 40 years old!? I cried. So my husband and best friend decided I needed a Wonder Woman party to look forward to. You may be aware that I am quite fond of a good party! {AND Wonder Woman!} But they were both afraid to plan a party for the planner so their birthday gift to me was to plan my own classy wonder woman birthday party and they would host it! It's a little unconventional but I had so much gathering ideas that I got over the weirdness real quick!
Now some of you may be saying…”wait a minute! She doesn't do character parties!” And you would be right. Wonder Woman is the only one I have ever done, and will probably ever do.
I'm thrilled to have designed this party in partnership with Oriental Trading Company. All products are ones I would have already purchased and all opinions are 100% my own.

Wonder Woman Party Invitations
Snips and Snail Party helped me change up their children's party invitation to create a classy Wonder Woman birthday invite for a grown up! I've loved this particular style for a long time and finally got to use it.
Originally I wanted this to be a girls party but then my husband felt left out! So it became a family party and I created an insert that invited everyone and let them know we were serving dinner. Nothing worse than showing up hungry to a 6pm party that serves nothing but cupcakes. It's ok to do, just let people know so they can eat before they come.
Wonder Woman Welcome
I love greeting guests with the party theme at the door. The welcome table sets the stage for a classy wonder woman birthday party theme with the vintage luggage, retro lunch box, glitter star garland, and watercolor graphic.
Wonder Woman Tablescape
Beautiful pin tucked linens in navy blue and gold perfectly accented each table. On the large round tables, a comic strip placemat anchored gold square plates layered with star dessert plates. Gold cutlery, red napkins, star cups, and themed party straws rounded out the place settings.
Each female guest received a Wonder Woman slap bracelet and crown as a favor. The same crowns adorned floral lantern centerpieces.
You can see how I created the floral lantern centerpieces with this simple DIY tutorial. One of my favorite aspects was tucking reading glasses made with my Cricut into each one to represent Diana Prince, her alter ego. It also reminds me of a favorite quote from the new Wonder Woman movie by secretary Etta Candy,
Really, specs? Suddenly she's not the most beautiful woman you've ever seen?”
Makes me laugh every time.
Wonder Woman Mini Centerpieces
For the standing bistro tables a compact centerpiece is helpful. This wood block embellished with gold paper and Wonder Woman logo was perfect sitting atop a mirrored tile scattered with custom Wonder Woman confetti by Festive Fetti.
Framed comic images of Wonder Woman added a touch of whimsy and tied in the classic comic placemats.
Wonder Woman Party Food
So right now is the time to admit that this is the only decent shot of the food table. Just goes to show that I should follow my own advice and have SOMEONE ELSE take photos at my parties. There's always way too much to do at the end and photos can sometimes take a backseat. Which is fine, but slightly frustrating when I just have to describe it and hope you catch the vision!
The beverage station was situated at the end of the food buffet with a vintage glass and metal punchbowl. Cups and straws were also located here. The combination of straws that Glitter Saturday put together is so perfect for a Wonder Woman party, but could easily transition to patriotic events as well. So happy when my decor can do double duty.
I love the city scape table backdrop that added dimension and hid all the electrical cords for the food warmers.
Dessert Table
As is customary the dessert table was the focal point for the evening. Since I'm not a huge fan of dessert buffets we limited the options to cupcakes, fruit tarts, and chocolate covered Oreos, with a smattering of color coordinated candy.
We used vintage luggage and a metal airplane to suggest Wonder Woman meeting Steve Trevor {Chris Pine} as he crash lands on her island, and her subsequent travel to England.
We kept the colors subdued with navy blues, deep crimson, and burnished gold for a classy grown up feel. Though I did have fun with the comic strip placemats and slap bracelet favors!
Sweet Treats
When I realized I would be planning my OWN birthday party I felt a little silly and reached out to some of my party stylist friends. They were so amazing and blessed me with their talents.
Lynnette of Craft My Occasion created stunning Wonder Woman dipped Oreos which everyone raved about! Although my husband warned a few people they were soap after a recent run in with a macaron from Sunbasil Soap!
The fruit tarts were a special request of mine and my sweet mother made 5 dozen of the color coordinated beauties. I'll be sharing her recipe soon. They are SO good!!
Wonder Woman Cake and Cupcake Toppers
Since we had enough sweet stuff the cake was just for show. You CAN'T have a 40th birthday without a cake!! Even if you don't need it. Dressing up this naked layer cake with a crown, roses, and gorgeous cake topper by Sugar Parties LA, was the perfect solution.
Susan at Sugar Parties LA also created beautiful cupcake toppers which dressed up our plain bakery cupcakes very nicely. Add a topper, a colorful liner, and gold sprinkles and you've got yourself a festive cupcake my friend!
Wonder Woman Photo Booth
A photo booth was a must have as guests were encouraged to come in superhero attire and made for some pretty funny photo ops! Using a gold sequin backdrop with red glitter star garlands made on my Cricut Explore Air.
To create a backdrop anywhere I recommend using a large adjustable backdrop stand and clamps to hold the fabric in place.
Many of the adults and all of the children arrived in costume which made for some fun snapshots. The superhero photo stick props were used by everyone whether in costume or not! Wonder Woman's sword, shield, and light up lasso were a favorite among the kids and I had to commandeer them a few times.
But I didn't need my weapons when I had my very own partner in crime, I mean uh, in defense.? {Definitely doesn't sound as good} I'm so grateful for my sweet husband and all he did to make this party happen for me and to honor all our amazing female heroes.
I love a good costume and had so much fun putting together a birthday outfit! I even got a Wonder Woman shirt for each of my teenage helpers!

I was even able to get a manicure with red glitter gel before the party! I love how they created the custom Wonder Woman nail with the stars and stripes. The perfect accessory for a Wonder Woman party! Design inspired by an untitled image on Pinterest.
Kids Activities
To preserve our sanity we created a craft room for the many children in attendance. Color your own superhero masks were a hit with washable markers and superhero stickers. As I mentioned they also had a great time playing with all the photo booth props.
