How to Choose Christmas Decorations for a Bedroom
Christmas decorations for a bedroom can be tricky. If you have time and resources to go all out, then by all means, do it! But I usually need to conserve my Christmas decorating energy for the most important areas.
So decide which space is most critical for you. Is it the Master Bedroom? The Kids rooms? The Guest Room? For me this year, it was the guest room as my parents are coming to stay over Christmas.
But the tips and suggestions in this post will work well for any bedroom.

Christmas Bedroom Decorations
When you starting thinking about Christmas decorations for a bedroom you start with the bed! I adore this holiday bedding from Grandin Road but it's sadly been discontinued. Here's another lovely bedding option that would work really well too.
You don't even need new bedding, just add a few cute pillows, and a fluffy gnome of course! {I have quite the affinity for Christmas gnomes!}
Cut squares of Christmas wrapping paper to add to the tops of nightstands, then top with mini trees and a couple of Christmas accessories.
Instead of the large mirror usually hanging over the bed, 2 wreaths and a round sign create a layered welcoming sight.
Once the bed is finished take a look and see if there's another area you'd like to dress up. This desk was the perfect place for a little holiday cheer. Add a few accessories like a:
- Farmhouse sign {from Home Goods} or this “Most Wonderful Time of the Year” or “Joy” Decorative Sled
- Wooden Christmas block countdown {from Michaels} or this Bottle brush countdown, or Gnome Block Calendar
- Fabric garland: you can make your own garland with this ribbon
- Bottle brush trees with snow confetti
- And finish it off with a letter to Santa on the desk
Bedroom Christmas Tree
Adding a Christmas tree to your bedroom is a fabulous way to celebrate. This is a 4 foot tree for our Guest Room, but if you have the space, bigger is always better where Christmas trees are concerned!
This woodland gnome tree is easy to put together with:
- Large Mushrooms
- Birch Snowflakes
- Birch branch picks
- Mini Pinecone picks
- Mini Gnome ornaments
- Concrete gnome garden picks
- Sparkly mini ornament balls
- Gnome Tree Topper
Gnome Christmas Tree Decor
The Gnome Christmas tree topper is a best part of the whole tree in my opinion! You can make your own cute topper with this simple tree topper tutorial.
Mini Gnome Ornaments
These handsome fellas are another fun project to make. They are created exactly like my no sew sock gnomes, just on a smaller scale. I'm working on a tutorial for you now!
Bedroom Hot Chocolate Bar
What about the idea of a Christmas hot chocolate bar in your bedroom!? You don't even have to do cocoa, feel free to add some Pero, herbal tea, or your favorite relaxing beverage instead.
Hot beverage bar must haves include:
- Electric kettle: this is the kettle I HAVE {which is great} but this kettle I LOVE the looks of
- Bottled water
- Instant beverage or tea bags
- Cute mugs: similar gnome mugs or this cute sweater pattern mug
- Spoons
- Napkins: cute gnome napkins
Optional beverage bar items:
- Peppermint sticks
- Snowflake Marshmallows
- Cute “Hot Cocoa Bar” Sign!
- Creamer Singles
- Cinnamon sprinkles
Displaying your items in cute containers make it feel more festive. These glass jars with metal lids are from the Dollar Tree!
A little snow confetti, and gnome confetti really make it special.
And if you're really gonna go for it……give them some sprinkles in a gnome measuring cup!
And a few darling paper napkins in the theme of your choice. But I'm pretty partial to these little gnomes.
