Black Cat Halloween Party Reveal
Halloween is my favorite holiday to decorate and party for! In years past we have done Halloween open houses for our friends and family. This year I decided to do a small adult dinner and host a kids Black Cat Halloween party instead. My kids are pretty brave when it comes to skeletons but are deathly afraid of ghosts! A black cat party with some witchy details is a slightly spooky in between theme that's perfect for nearly everyone!
Black Cat Halloween Invitations
The whole idea for a black cat party started after Halfpint Party Design introduced our cute Kitty Cat Birthday Party Package on Etsy. We realized with a few tweaks what a great Halloween party theme it could be! Theese Black Cat Halloween Party Invites are available with a cute whisker nose pattern for the back, and for the first time, a customized printable envelope design as well! You can type each address in or just print the fun spiderweb and handwrite the details.
Welcome to the Party
I love having a themed welcome! Guide guests to the party entrance with the kitty paw stencil also available in the Black Cat Halloween Party Package. Just print, cut, and color! Sidewalk chalk is the best. It's inexpensive and won't last for too long on your sidewalk or porch.
We welcomed guests in the front door with this darling vintage Halloween kitty countdown from World Market.
Black Cat Party Decorations
I had way too much fun gathering items to display for this party! I love this black cat fabric from Spoonflower! It's all you really need for the perfect party backdrop but I, of course, had to add mini pennant banners from our Black Cat Party Package and a furry kitten wreath. I may have gone a little decor overboard but it was such a fun display!
Black Cats Are Seen
You've got to have a black cat or two for a black cat party. This kitty with it's piercing green eyes is a perfect party accessory. I picked this little feline up at Michaels in September but their seasonal items go quickly and I didn't see it last time I went in. Although I'm sure there are plenty of kitties this season if you need one.
I do recommend starting your search at Dollar Tree when planning any party. Dollar Tree regularly has perfect item for upcoming events but their stock rotates quickly. The trick is to plan ahead and know which parties you are looking for so you can snag it when you see it. This large cat bowl was the perfect find!
A furry cat wreath was just too cute not to make. {I'll show you you how I created it in a Black Cat DIY post coming soon!} It was fun to layer with the fabric, adding additional dimension to the backdrop. Wreath inspiration from Brenda at Giggle Hearts.
Say hello to “Skelly Cat” as my children are calling her. Turns out this little Day of the Dead beauty worked perfectly into our black cat party as well! You can pick this lovely Day of the Dead kitty up at Oriental Trading.
Witchy Details
And now for the witchy details! My favorite find from a few years ago is this witch hat clock atop a pedestal from Grandin Road. This clock doesn't actually keep time however, it's permanently fixed on the witching hour! I hear midnight is when gouls and ghosties come a-haunting!
A black pumpkin wearing a witch hat highlights this print: “When witches go riding and black cats are seen, the moon laughs and whispers 'tis near Halloween!” I love this fun quote and how it ties into the rest of the party decor package. I simply printed it on 110lb cover stock and displayed in on a black easel.
Black Cat Halloween Party Food
There are so many fun things you can do for Halloween treats. We kept our menu kitten friendly, mixing black cat napkins and silvery spider web plates for a fun and slightly spooky snack time.
Kitty litter is important when you have an indoor cat. There are lots of recipes for a very realistic looking litter box cake, melted tootsie rolls included! Yuck! I'm not a big fan of “gross” food. We chose to keep it cute with Chex mix.
You've got to have fishy crackers for a kitty cat. Goldfish crackers are a favorite in this house for kittens and kiddos a like. {We don't actually have a cat..but I imagine they might like them!}
Zebra striped caramel popcorn looks just like little whiskers and makes a great snack for a black cat party. Especially when served in our big cat bowl!
Having fun color themed food is a must for any party, so these limited addition “paw” Cheetos were a total score! Serving them in these darling striped treat boxes from Zurchers just made them even cuter!
Mini cauldrons are perfect for serving veggies, cupcakes, nuts, or candy. We added a little nutrition to the menu with broom stick veggies.
You can't have a kitty without a yarn ball to play with! Clementines are my kids favorite snack and they double as a perfect play toy! I made a few real yarn balls just in case the kittens got restless!
A cute Easter container played double duty as a pumpkin patch to display these fun seasonal orange pop rocks.
Custom Kitty Cakes
Little whisker toppers are so cute and fun to make. They work perfectly as a craft or a topper and coordinate with the invites.
Another fun option that comes with the party package are these little broom toppers and spider cupcake wrappers.
Milk is a must have for a kitty cat party and these dressed up glass milk bottles are the perfect way to serve it. The paper tags help each guest know which glass is theirs.
Black Cat Halloween Party
I hope you enjoyed this Black Cat Halloween Party as much as I enjoyed doing it! Black cats and witches are a natural fit for Halloween. A fun and festive theme that can be spooked up or “purred” down. I'll be sharing the black cat party activities and some of the fun DIY party decor you see here in posts coming soon!
